 In Washington, we distinguish between Puget Sound (everything inside of Cape Flattery, basically) and oceanfront, which is along the Pacific Coast. My favorite coastal town is Long Beach, and its companion towns of Ocean Park and Seaview. Long the summer area for Portland, Oregon, residents, it has become popular again. This is where I go to 'get away from it all.' Other areas that are special are Grayland, Westport, and Ocean Shores. For a wilder oceanfront, head north from Copalis. It's fun to be out here in the winter when the storms come in; and the summer is delightful. Much less expensive than the Oregon Coast, it's a must-see for folks looking for summer-only property at a fair price.
