| AREA "A" |
|
Area A begins with Point Roberts, a peninsula of land surrounded by British Columbia, Canada, with water on three sides. Populated by a mixture of Canadians who work nearby and American retirees, it is a quiet, beautiful spot. South of this area is Blaine with its golf course community of Semiahmoo. Semiahmoo features waterfront homes, condos, as well as golf course and water view lots and home. Also in this area is Birch Bay, one of Washington's famous old beach resorts now turned into retirement living. The views from this area are beautiful, particularly along Holman Road. The private marina community of Birch Bay Village is a very special area and should be considered for those who want privacy, security and views to die for.
One of Washington's 'canal' communities, Sandy Point, is located in Area A. If you want to moor your boat next to the dock and be able to boat to the San Juans in 15 minutes, this is the spot.
The main city is Bellingham with Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, and great restaurants and shopping. Water views abound in this community, especially from Chuckanut Drive.
If you're interested in lakefront living, there is Lake Whatcom and Lake Samish, along with a myriad of tiny lakes.
What's the best thing about Area A? Its close proximity to Vancouver, B.C., my favorite city for a weekend of dining, dancing, shopping, and relaxing.
